While making Art Challenge Three, ‘Digital Storytelling’, I had to learn how to use iMovie, Vimeo and how to take the end product and embed it into my Weebly. This was a challenging activity, however I enjoyed working with digital technology within Media Arts and with the help of some searches online I was able to accomplish the challenge.
Engaging with iMovie was hard to begin with but while spending time experimenting with the different elements that were accessible within the App, I learnt how to zoom into images, choose different transitions to each slide and layer text onto a few chosen images. Then I decided to see what other elements I could layer onto of the images in iMovie to expand the creativity of my digital story, ‘My Life!’. Through some trial and error, I included background music and layered a voiceover to final product. Once I had finished my iMovie I had to work out how to get the digital story from my iPhone and embed it into my Weebly. I had to engage in some online support but eventually worked out how to create a Vimeo account to upload the digital story to and also learnt how to embed the HTML code into the Weebly. A task that seemed very daunting to begin with ended up being very engaging and fun. Using this process to create a digital story could sit within the Student Resource Booklet in section three (Story Telling – Using Symbols, Activity 4 – Making Symbols). The students could have used the App iMovie to upload their images that they used when they created their symbols in the sandbox. Like PowerPoint (the chosen software) they could have also inserted a voiceover, but I feel with using iMovie to create their digital story might have been easier for the target age group linked to the Student Resource Booklet (Year 2). I felt like iMovie gave me more choices when creating and editing my digital story. |
