The journey started with a self-portrait. I decided to use a pencil and sketch my portrait using a photo as a guide. As I started, my focus was on just drawing lines and shapes to represent parts of my face. I thought I would just do a basic portrait as I am not naturally drawn to the arts but as I continued I found myself changing direction. I started to experiment with shading to enhance the effect of contouring, particularly around the eyes to create depth and age. While continuing to sketch, the line strokes turned into short quick stokes and long curve strokes to create an appearance of texture to the portrait. The journey started with me feeling quite anxious, however I finished with a feeling of accomplishment. Next was to experiment with Media Arts. This was a process that I felt more comfortable with. I used the Picasso App to explore a range of art styles. I was drawn to the ‘cubism’ style and used that to stylise my portrait and turn it into a book cover. I liked the aesthetics the App used to transform my sketched portrait. My eye was drawn to the pascal colours and the use of thick black lines, which gave it an appearance of having a 3D effect. I used a range of Media Arts to create the book cover and six-word novel. I used PowerPoint to create the book and uploaded it to YouTube. This process was chosen because I could use the transitions effects I created in PowerPoint and upload it to this blog. I enjoyed this process as it required a lot of problem-solving skills to create a blog than I had envisioned. The words chosen for the title, sub-heading and in the six-word novel reflects my personality of being a home person that enjoys being alone, however my life identity is anything but that. |
